Wind Energy
The benefits of a wind power system for your remote home or commercial premises are many. For instance, consider the prospect of a renewable power source that not only compliments but works in conjunction with your existing power generator in producing power. Imagine producing power for your property passively –without any effort from you, allowing you get on with more important tasks.
Wind energy is kinetic energy from the wind that is captured by wind turbines and converted into electricity to assist in powering your private or commercial premises. A wind power system consists of wind turbines, which produces electricity and an inverter than converts this energy into normal mains power so that it can be used in your home or commercial premises.
Wind energy is an indirect form of solar energy. It is estimated that between 1% and 3% of the solar energy that strikes the Earth is used in the creation of wind. Wind is created by the uneven heating of the Earth's atmosphere. This effect creates high and low pressure systems in the atmosphere. Air moves from the high-pressure systems to low pressure systems, creating the winds that circulate the earth.
By the end of 2006, Australia’s total installed wind energy capacity was 817 Megawatts (MW), comprising 563 wind turbines in 42 wind farms.
