Remote Area Power Systems
We all recognise that the cost of energy is set to rise. The cost of diesel is rising, and because it will keep rising, anyone reliant on it for the production of electricity should consider the benefits of a Remote Area Power System (RAPS).
In remote areas, where cost and distance prohibits connection to the main electricity grid, the only viable alternative to the problem of reliable 24 hour electricity is to generate it with a Remote Area Power System, (RAPS) which has traditionally been supplied via a diesel generator.
A Remote Area Power System derives its power from renewable sources. A solar array, a wind turbine, or both, produce electricity, and then feed it into a bank of batteries through a charge controller, to be stored for use when required. An inverter then converts the electricity into a form that can be used by normal appliances. A renewable energy system may also be backed up with a diesel genset.
